August 2010 - Using Web fonts with fonts.com beta launch
Having played with @font-face declarations, we have now decided to trial some of the alternative font display solutions available on the web.
Fonts.com, the respected online portal of mongraph imaging, home to some of the most venerable typefaces in use today (Helvetica, Din, Frutiger, Gill Sans, etc.) has launched an online portal for applying quality typefaces to your website. Currently a free beta, you must sign up to the fonts.com web fonts (catchy, isn't it?) portal. The site uses a simple DIY assembly process and at the end provides a Javascript snippet to be added to the page. This overrides local CSS settings where applicable and has the added benefit of allowing rapid 'switching', so you can quickly update your scheme on the portal and your webfonts will update without the need to edit your local HTML or CSS. Pretty smart, right? Currently using Metro family on the Welcome page, will probably experiment more over the next few weeks.
August 2010 - Brand Update
Sometimes the most difficult (and time-consuming!) thing for a designer is to tackle their own personal material, and try and approach the content objectively. Hence initial branding for Catalyst Design & Marketing was done extremely rapidly on a needs must basis when the company was launched. With 2 years on the clock, it was finally time to take stock and put some effort into refining the brand identity. The new site showcases the end product, a new identity that evolves from the original into a distinctive and defined appearance. Hope you like it.
